Term Definition
Acceptance Authority Person(s) or body having the authority and experience to determine that the requirements of the Order have been satisfied. (Rolls-Royce Marine - Submarines)
Accommodation Part Number A temporary identification applied to unfinished / incomplete component(s) or documentation during the manufacture / process / shipping cycle which shall clearly distinguish them from the corresponding Rolls-Royce production series part number(s) in the fully finished configuration.
Advanced Engineering Memorandum (AEM) Authorises manufacture of parts incorporating defined designed changes prior to issue of a new part drawing. (Rolls-Royce Corporation)
Approved Configuration A Design Definition of an item that has passed all qualification requirements defined by Rolls-Royce and other controlling agencies - and has been approved by Rolls-Royce.
Approved Drawings and Procedures Drawings and Procedures which have the technical approval of Rolls-Royce. (Rolls-Royce Marine - Submarines)
Authorised Drawings and Procedures Approved drawings and procedures applicable to a specific purchase order which will be listed in appendices attached to that order. (Rolls-Royce Marine - Submarines)
Authorised Person Someone who is authorised by job title or by specific delegation to perform nominated task(s).
Authorised Release Certificate A release document issued for aerospace parts by suppliers who hold National Airworthiness Approval (NAA) and / or holders of Product Manufacturing Approval (PMA).
Assembly Assemblies and sub-assemblies are a combination of several detail parts which may be:
  • Temporarily joined together (e.g. fitted, bolted or riveted etc.)
  • Permanently joined together (e.g. welded, or brazed etc.)
Attribute
A characteristic or property which is appraised in terms of whether it does or does not conform (e.g. “Go or No-Go”), with respect to a given requirement.
